Daily Notes
Today is our last full Friday in Chapel Hill. On next Friday we will be packing up the van and heading for Vancouver Island. We will be spending next Friday night at an Air B&B that we have booked in West Virginia! I have already compiled a list of the various states in which I can pick up lottery tickets and not have to worry about picking up the winnings as all winners are “anonymous”!
We have three propane tanks for our two outdoor grills. The grill that we bought, which is currently on the moving truck to Vancouver Island, and the one that we got from our next door neighbors who moved a few years ago. I thought I might be able to return them to Lowe’s today, but they don’t take back propane tanks, which I guess makes sense. A guy in line with me asked what I wanted for them. I was not sure, so we went outside to see how much new ones costs. He phoned his buddy, and his buddy told him that they go for about $20 used, but he didn’t need any at the moment. I thought I would do a good deed and just gave him the three tanks as he was being very helpful. My “good deed” for today I guess you could say. I told him to pay it forward… 🙂
I stopped off at noon at La Hacienda Mexican Restaurant. I must say that I am in a very peaceful and happy frame of mind, which will surely help out with my lottery winning ticket coming to me sooner… 🙂 I had the three hard shell tacos with refried beans and Mexican rice (see photo to the right), the dish I love. This restaurant has been here for 30+ years, so it was nice to be able to go to it again before I leave! I love the way that they serve their tacos in holders so that they don’t get soggy in the refried beans… 🙂
I started to watch the new Seinfeld movie about Pop Tarts last night. Perhaps this is why during my meditation session this afternoon I came up with the thought of “Picks & Sparkles” for a snack mix! The picks would be the salty ones, like peanuts and pretzels…only the best of these, the “Picks”, and the “Sparkles” would be candy flavored pieces, like the multi-colored assortments you put on cupcakes. Not sure if this will go anywhere. Perhaps if I win millions in the lottery I can set up my own bakery and make them myself… 🙂
I bought two tickets for the NC “Pick 3” Lottery today. One for the day draw, and one for the evening draw. This will probably be it for these drawings… The next lottery ticket I plan to get is for the Power Ball and Mega Millions draw in Virginia!
