Daily Notes
This morning’s lottery ticket was the Wyoming Mega Millions lottery ticket (see photo to the right). Unfortunately, not a winner!
This morning my wife took Bobby to the “Mars Wildlife Rescue”, the same facility that she took Katie to a while back. The guy showing them around is originally from Nova Scotia and said that he had quite a few friends from Truro.
This afternoon we went bike shopping for Bobby. We ended up at “Blue Toque Sports”, a second hand store that is considered one of the best on Vancouver Island. There was a bike there that was perfect for Bobby, and at $135, the price was right as well. If he bikes on a continuous basis, and wants a more expensive one in the future, we can certainly do that, but this second hand option is a great solution to get him up and running! Bobby also got a frisbee at this store and my wife picked up some tennis balls.
Next up was Canadian Tire down the road where we picked up a kick stand for Bobby’s new bike and a bike helmet for him as well. At $79, the helmet was almost as expensive as his new bike… 🙂
Walmart for groceries was next on the agenda. My wife picked up some kebabs for tonight’s dinner. I picked up a cable that I thought would enable me to display my Amazon Fire Tablet onto my computer monitor (didn’t work…I’ll need to get one from Amazon as there doesn’t appear to be the right cable on the island). While there I saw a guy who reminded me of Larry David… 🙂 You can see him in all his glory in the photo to the right!
Katie received a text from Sophia asking if she wanted to hang out at her high school. Since she doesn’t have a phone it went to my wife, who didn’t have her phone at the time, so she received the message to late to respond. Although Sophia doesn’t have a phone, she can communicate via Snap Chat on her computer, so it looks like they might do that moving forward.
For this evening’s dinner we had the kebabs that my wife picked up at Walmart this afternoon. Bobby took his new bike out for a spin earlier today but was upset that it didn’t pedal properly. I was taking a nap at the time, but this evening I spent time to rectify the situation. First up, putting on his new kickstand. Mission accomplished. Next up was figuring out the gear situation. There is a lever that will send the gears in the opposite direction, so with up and down shifting solved, this mission was accomplished as well. I took him out to the road and we tested it out. He made great progress but we qui after a bit because his “butt” was hurting him. I told him that I always had this issue with the first bike session of the season. It takes a while for your butt to get used to the new seat!
