Today is Day #1 of “The Magic”, which is “Count Your Blessings”. I am beginning this chapter while sitting at the desk in my bedroom. I might venture out to a coffee shop later in the day.
This chapter suggests that first thing in the morning, as soon as you can, count 10 blessings. So, at 11:47 am, the first time I read this section of “The Magic” today, here goes! (Check out “My Daily Journal” for the list).
Earlier this morning I really started to visualize the property that we as a family picked out yesterday. I started to think increasingly about it, what I wanted it to be, and to become. Here are some thoughts:
I found out that the owners of the property now are a homeopath from England and a medical doctor from Switzerland who worked in surgery and psychiatry in India before moving to Courtenay.
From the documents that the real estate agent sent us, I see that the lot right next to the property is 5.02 acres (about twice the area of a Manhattan city block), but I was unable to find any information on the owners. I have been visualizing that they are an older couple who will fall in love with our two kids once I arrive. In effect, they will become their “substitute grandparents.” They will either give us their property, or let us buy it at a discount, or give it to us in their will when they pass away. I am not sure exactly how we are to be with these visualizations, but I will learn about it more as I put this process into practice, I am sure.
There are three fenced “pastures” on the property right now. I was thinking that I could have a portable garage and workshop in the middle one (the photo to the right shows one of the buildings that Pacific Rim Shelters, 3573 Island Hwy South, Courtenay, BC V9N 9T8 will build for you), with a motorcycle track around the circumference for our son to ride the bike we will make or buy for him. The one in the area where the road and driveway intersect could be where we have our fruit trees and grapes. The one remaining, which is next to the barn, is where we could let the goats out to roam around.
In the main building our daughter could have the bedroom with the walk-in closet and bathroom. The bedroom at the end of the house has a connection to a family room that my wife could use as an office. Our son could have the bedroom on the top floor, which he will love I am sure as it has a “tree house” appeal. That leaves the small bedroom for me, but I would say that is okay because I will be spending much of my time in the garage or in the other smaller house where my laser engraving business will be centralized.
I am also visualizing that we will have $3 million US to facilitate this move to Canada. This amount of money will enable us to purchase this $1,794,000 property, pay for the move and vehicles and furnishings when we get there, and still have $1 million in our retirement account to finance the kid’s education and other family expenses in the future.
It is evening here, and I just went outside to pick up a “Magic Rock” as requested for Day #2 of “The Magic”. The photo to the right shows all the rocks that I picked up. I was initially only going to pick up one rock, but as I thought more about it, I decided that I would pick up at least 10 more. Here is the reason…
For starters I was thinking of getting a rock from a nearby lake where there are lots of nice fancy homes, like I wanted to live in a couple of years ago. Then I thought I would go to an area of farms and pastures near Damascus Church Road as I love these homes and they are like the farmhouse and property we picked out in Courtenay. I settled upon just going outside and getting a rock(s) from our current property in homage to the “home” as aspect. This has been our home for many years, and I want this positive and happy energy to transfer to Canada. I am not sure if there is something to this or not, but I will see as I go through the pages of “The Magic”.
If you look at the picture you will see two rocks on the left, one on top of the other. The one on the bottom was the first one I picked up, but I put it back down as I thought it might not be round enough. The one on top is the one that I picked up and decided would be my primary rock. After picking up all the other rocks in the driveway of our current property, I went back and picked up the rock that I originally picked up just in case.
So, this is the collection. I am keeping the rock in the top left of the picture out for the rock that I will use on Day #2 of “The Magic”, and I have put the other rocks into my “Little Gold Box” that I use to keep my novel and comedic ideas (see photo to the left). I put a note and some clear tape over the rock that I picked up first, and you can see this in the box as well.
Today was jam packed, but that’s it for today!
