Daily Notes
I drove to the Canada Service office in Campbell River this morning to get a paper that links me to my Social Insurance Number. It went dormant as I have not used it in the 30 years I have been in the US.
On the way back there was a beauty of a classic “oldie” car in front of me (see photo to the right). There sure seem to be a lot of old classic cars here in the Courtenay/Comox and Campbell River area. I think it’s due to the fact that there are so many retired people, with disposable income, wanting to relive their youth and the car that they had when they were youngsters. Perhaps…
My wife took the kids to the beach this afternoon while I had a nap. Bobby didn’t really like the smell of the seaweed (see photo to the left), or the slipperiness, but he played on the shore none-the-less. This was just this one beach mind you. I’m sure that there will be others more to his liking as we get to know the area better.
It’s 3:17 pm and I just had a great meditation! This is probably the best meditation session I have had since I left Chapel Hill. It’s wonderful to be in a nice warm bed, with no responsibility to drive, or even get out of bed for that matter. Just lie there, think pleasant joyful thoughts, and connect with your “Inner Being”. In this particular session, these thoughts came to mind:
- Pick out at random one of the lottery tickets that I purchased on the way to Courtenay. In this way “Source” will inform me of the “Winning Ticket” when it decides to. As I have 28 tickets, this should last 28 days!
- Katie wants to learn woodworking, we can have a Daddy/Daughter Day in which we go to Home Depot and see all the various tools, and I can explain to her what I know.
- She can also watch some “Woodworking 101” videos on YouTube to familiarize herself with what is what before we actually get our shop set up in Courtenay.
This afternoon I was thinking of having a Daddy/Son Chat Day, but my boy wanted to play on the trampoline in the neighbor’s yard, so I took the van and went exploring Courtenay by myself. I ended up at the only theater in Courtenay, to see where it was, not to watch a show. I also went into a Canadian Tire for the first time in years, and saw where the Walmart is located. On the way back I saw my first Tesla Cybertruck.
Next up, Quality Foods for some peanut butter and jelly for the boy’s sandwiches. I also picked up toilet paper and more hot dogs. On the way home I stopped off at Tim Horton’s to try their “Bacon Pizza Flatbread”. Man oh man was the service slow. The guy in the car behind me was getting upset at the wait.
This evening my wife and I watched a YouTube show about the origins of the city of Vancouver by UsefulCharts.com
