Daily Notes
Instead of having breakfast at the dining room table and looking out the patio in the “Barn Suite”, I decided to have “breakie” at my computer! Before you ask, I did check to see if my Illinois Powerball ticket won… Pause for effect… NOPE! (see photo to the left) There is always tomorrow!
Today is Father’s Day and the kids each made a card for me. The family gave me a mug (see photo to the right) paying tribute to the “usefulness” of our German Shepherd.
We managed to get quite a bit done this afternoon in regards to yard work. For starters, I assembled the Husky Utility Cart that I purchased at Home Depot yesterday. It’s a shame that these things don’t come assembled anymore. I had to lock Maple in the house as she was getting in the way of the assembly process by dropping a tennis ball at my feet.
Next up was to give the new lawnmower a spin. It started up no problem, and is surprisingly quiet…but I guess that’s what you get when an item is powered by lithium batteries. I showed the wife and kids how it worked, and they enjoyed giving our lawns a trim as well. Our daughter really took to it and said it was therapeutic, like the swing she had back in Chapel Hill.
The lawnmower has a bag to trap clippings, so we dumped them into the utility cart and “carted” them behind the old shed at the back of our property. This will be our compost area. We are thinking of getting a large shredder to chop up all the cardboard boxes we have to add to the mound of grass clippings. I will need to water it and “pitchfork” it each day as per this YouTube video. We gave some of the grass clippings to the chickens and did they ever take to them. Lithium batteries mean that there is no gas or oil residue or fumes in the clippings, only healthy “grass”.
I put up “✨ Sleep soundly & Attract Abundance with Abraham Hicks’ Bedtime Routine ✨” at 5:28 pm this evening.
My wife went for groceries this evening and picked up a roast chicken, which along with some “air fryer” fries was our evening meal. After dinner the kids ran off to try out the swing at the end of our property, and this evolved into a game of “Hide & Seek”.
The laundry that I put out on the clothesline last night was nice and dry given the bout of sun we had this afternoon, so I brought it in, folded it, and put it in the closet. Brings back memories of doing the laundry at the motel!
