A new documentary, the “Beatles 64”, about the rise of Beatlemania, just dropped on Disney+. I love watching these old documentaries…especially about the Beatles. It brings back such a simpler time and place! Now that I have seen Sir Paul live, these have much more meaning!

I had four new “All Weather” tires put on my 2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid this morning. I then went to Plates for breakfast (see photo to the right). They have homemade jam, which went great on toast! Everything tasted good, including the hard fried eggs and the pancakes! While at Plates I finished watching “The Graduate” on my Fire Tablet courtesy of their wi-fi.

I bought another Blackjack ticket at Walmart this evening, but alas, it was a dud (see photo to the left). So, I asked Copilot: Tell me about the $2 blackjack “scratch & win” game in Courtenay, British Columbia?

The $2 Blackjack Scratch & Win game is a popular lottery ticket available in Courtenay, BC, and across British Columbia. Here’s a quick rundown of how it works:

  1. How to Play: Scratch GAME 1 through 5 and the DEALER’S HAND for the TABLE 1 and TABLE 2 play areas. If the value of any one GAME is higher than the value of the DEALER’S HAND for that TABLE, you win the corresponding prize for that GAME1. If the DEALER’S HAND BUSTS (more than 21), you win all the prizes in GAMES 1 through 5 for that TABLE.
  2. Prizes: The top prize is $21,000. Other prizes range from $2 to a free $2 ticket1.
  3. Odds: The overall approximate odds of winning a prize are 1 in 4.10.

The chances of winning any prize in the $2 Blackjack Scratch & Win game are approximately 1 in 4.10. This means that, on average, there is a winner for roughly one out of every four tickets.

While the odds aren’t too shabby, remember to play responsibly and within your means. Lottery games should be fun and enjoyable, and while winning can be exciting, it’s important to keep things in perspective.

If you ever feel like your gambling is becoming more than just a fun activity, there are resources available to help.

I have spent $231 and have won $113. Is this considered good, average, below average, or what?

You’ve spent $231 and won $113, which means your net loss is $118.

To calculate your return on investment (ROI):

  1. Total Winnings / Total Spent: $113 / $231 ≈ 0.4896, or roughly 48.96%.

In lottery terms, spending $231 and winning back $113 is about what you might expect given the odds of 1 in 4.10. It indicates that you’ve hit several small wins, which is fairly typical. With gambling games, the house always has an edge, so maintaining roughly half of what you’ve spent is not unusual.

Would you like to dive deeper into lottery math or strategies to maximize enjoyment from such games?

given this rate of return, what would you expect if I double the amount I spend, say $231?

If you double your spending to $462, we can use your current rate of return (approximately 48.96%) to estimate your potential winnings.

Here’s a quick calculation:

  1. Estimated Winnings: $462 * 0.4896 ≈ $226.

So, if your rate of return remains consistent, you’d expect to win approximately $226. This would mean a net loss of around $236.

However, remember that gambling outcomes are inherently unpredictable, and actual results can vary significantly from expected averages. Always gamble responsibly and for enjoyment, not as a way to make money.

Could I win the $21,000? What are my odds if I spend another $231 playing this game?

Winning the $21,000 top prize is definitely a possibility, but it’s important to keep in mind that the odds are extremely slim. Lottery games are designed with long odds for jackpot prizes to ensure they can offer such substantial payouts.

For the $2 Blackjack Scratch & Win game, the exact odds of winning the top prize aren’t usually specified on the ticket itself, but for context, top prize odds in similar lottery games can often be as high as 1 in several hundred thousand or even millions.

Spending another $231 would essentially double your number of plays, but it wouldn’t significantly increase your overall odds of hitting the top prize. Your odds remain the same per ticket, regardless of how many you buy.

Think of it like flipping a coin: no matter how many times you flip it, the odds of landing heads or tails on each individual flip is always 50%.
